We met up with the PedalParty_LR group ride on Monday to check them out. They’ve been appearing in our feed for some months now and we finally got our act together so we could head downtown right after work.
We met up at Shift Modern Cyclery which is a new-to-us bike shop near the Capitol. Seemed like a pretty cool place and it’s good to know there is a bike shop in the downtown area.
There were 40-50 people on the ride this evening. After leaving Shift we did a loop around the Capitol including riding through the tunnel under the front steps. We then headed to Lost Forty Brewing for some to-go beers.
After leaving Lost Forty, we made our way to a recent development along the Arkansas River that has a large dock. We hung out on the dock, drinking beers, meeting new people, and watching the sun go down. After an appropriate amount of time, we headed back towards downtown where the group split… some headed back to the start while others continued on to Main Street to go eat together.
Homework beckoned and we headed home and grabbed a bite to eat along the way. Overall, the ride was about 6.5 miles at a leisurely pace. Every type of bike and every type of rider was represented. The group had music and lights, there was a puppy riding in a basket, there were friendly faces. Good job Dominic and PedalParty_LR! We had a great time and we’ll be back!
